Three points would take West Ham out of the bottom three until Tuesday night at least, piling a huge amount of pressure on relegation rivals Tottenham ahead of their game away at bitter rivals Chelsea.

It’s a huge game and Hammers News asked its readers and subscribers across our Facebook and TalkingPoints platforms the changes they wanted to see.

The bulk of them are calling for Nuno to start Callum Wilson.

The response was fairly unanimous. Most of the replies saw supporters call for Wilson to start the game against his former club.

One response read: “Start with Taty (Castellanos) and Wilson.”

Another added: “Wilson to start.”

“Start Wilson,” said one supporter.

“We cannot leave Wilson on the bench and hope scores if he comes on in last 15 mins, that’s too risky,” read one response.

“(Jean-Clair) Todibo out, go to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 and bring Wilson in against his old club!” was another comment.

This subscriber said: “Start Wilson. He’s always a danger up front and when Nuno brings him on.”

Wilson has scored two last-minute winners for West Ham this season, as well as twice against another of his former clubs in Bournemouth back in November.

Clearly, it is entirely understandable as to why supporters would be so keen for the 34-year-old, given his proven track record at Premier League level.

It is worth mentioning, however, that the England striker has only completed one Premier League game in full this season, and his last start came in mid-March.

That is not a criticism of a player who has proven he can still score goals at the highest of levels. It is merely an assessment of how he has been used here in east London since joining from Sunday’s opponents Newcastle.
