Manchester City won the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, beating Chelsea 1-0, but there will be no wild celebrations with the Premier League title potentially still up for grabs
Pep Guardiola says there will be no boozy celebrations after Man City’s FA Cup final triumph
Bernardo Silva has got one ‘small dream’ left after lifting the twentieth trophy of his Manchester City career as Pep Guardiola banned the booze from his team’s FA Cup celebrations.
Silva has two more matches left under Guardiola after captaining City to victory over Chelsea at Wembley. “Hopefully, we can still have a small dream that we can fight for the Premier League,” smiled Silva, who lifted the trophy with John Stones, who is also leaving the Etihad at the end of the season.
“It is just special for me, being my last season to give them another trophy. Hopefully, not the last one.”
And unsurprisingly, Guardiola shared Silva’s mindset – as well as the 20 trophies. The City boss declared: “Not even one beer. Next Monday, after Aston Villa at home (last Premier League game of the season), we will celebrate. We will have a parade. It’s took six hours to get here. Trains are a bit of a problem in this country.

“Bournemouth (away on Tuesday). That will be even tougher. Try to go there and get a result. Now? Home.”
City are two points behind Arsenal, who face Burnley at the Emirates on Monday and go to Crystal Palace on the last day of the season. “I don’t think there will be much celebrating,” said Antoine Semenyo, whose clever second half finish secured victory for City.
“It came straight to me and I had to improvise as quickly as I can. It is a good finish, I can’t lie. I have never competed for trophies like this before, so everything is new to me. Hopefully, we can finish the job off (in the Premier League).”
Silva celebrated by giving his medal to his two-year-old daughter Carlota and then paid tribute to Guardiola, whose future still seems to be uncertain.
He said: “He changed the way I see football. 80% of my career was with him as my manager. All the things I hoped to achieve were with him. The relationship we have got is very strong with the frustrations and the achievements.”I care a lot about Man City.
“I wish all the best to the manager because I really enjoy being with him and sharing all these moments together.”
Silva politely refused to answer a question on the City manager’s future but Guardiola hinted before the game that he would stay for the final year of his contract. And after this victory, he declared: “The moment the fire decreases, then we will go home. I am a funny guy.
“This year I have been really good. Last season was the toughest season for many reasons. This season it is every day how we behave. Maybe we took time to find some stability with the team.”
Chelsea’s interim manager Calum McFarlane was disappointed with a couple of decisions inside the City area but praised his team for their efforts. He said: “the lads did not get what they deserved. We went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the world and there was very little between the two sides.
“It was a one-in-a-hundred finish that won it for them.”
