Dawson rejoined Wolves in 2023 after a much shorter spell at the London Stadium, playing 87 times for West Ham in all competitions.

West Ham duo Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson’s classy gesture at Arsenal game

Both Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson attended West Ham’s London derby against Arsenal last weekend.

“Former players Craig Dawson, who left in 2023, and Aaron Cresswell, who left last summer to join Stoke City, attended the loss to Arsenal to cheer on their ex-teammates,” reported The Athletic.

The Hammers lost 1-0 after VAR controversially disallowed Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time equaliser due to Pablo Felipe’s foul on David Raya.

It felt like a huge moment in the relegation battle, with the West Ham players and supporters feeling devastated after the final whistle.

This made Cresswell and Dawson’s classy gesture after the game even more significant, as they reportedly “went into the home changing room.”

Of course, they would have preferred to celebrate a victory with their former teammates.

However, Cresswell and Dawson’s show of support might have given the Hammers players a much-needed lift.

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers respond well in a must-win game at St. James’ Park on Sunday evening.

Another defeat would push Nuno Espirito Santo’s side one step closer to the Championship, where Cresswell and Dawson will also be.

Perhaps a small positive of being relegated would be the opportunity for Cresswell, in particular, to return to the club.
