But Alonso actually will be the boss, rather than a head coach, which is how his predecessors were named at the club. This will mean that his role will have significantly more control than the role of those that came before him, and that is only a good thing.
Alonso will get a say on new transfer targets they bring in, and he will also get a say on the players that they will be looking to sell.
Could two of those players be Wesley Fofana and Liam Delap? Journalist Alex Crook of talkSPORT believes so!
Crook on Fofana and Delap

Speaking over the weekend in quotes picked up on X, Crook said:
“I am not convinced Wesley Fofana has a long term future at Chelsea.
“I am expecting Liam Delap to leave Chelsea this summer, with a more established striker coming in.”
I think both will be sold, personally.
In other news today…
Xabi Alonso believes the Chelsea squad can be shaped in his image, but a few tweaks will be required according to reports over the weekend.
Chelsea expect to be seriously challenging for the Premier League within three seasons, if not sooner according to reports. Chelsea fans will be demanding it be earlier than three seasons though!
