Calum McFarlane staying at Chelsea on first team coaching staff
The Athletic have named five names who will be joining the backroom staff of Xabi Alonso on the Chelsea bench.
Every manager will have their trusted set of staff members who they will usually try and take with them wherever they go, and it seems that Alonso is going to be no different at Chelsea. Although, there is one new name that he hasn’t worked with before who will be joining his coaching team, and that is current interim manager Callum McFarlane.

McFarlane has twice taken the role of interim manager at Chelsea recently over last season, standing in after Enzo Maresca left, and then again now after the sacking of Liam Rosenior. The club clearly like him and want to keep him involved, and he will now be working under Alonso.

The Athletic report Calum McFarlane will remain at Chelsea as part of Xabi Alonso’s backroom staff. Alonso’s trusted quartet Sebastian Parrilla, Alberto Encinas and Benat Labaien and Ismael Camenforte Lopez will be coming with him to Chelsea.
So it’s mostly a case of not changing what you know, and then Calum randomly added in there as well!

Xabi Alonso believes the Chelsea squad can be shaped in his image, but a few tweaks will be required according to reports over the weekend.
Chelsea expect to be seriously challenging for the Premier League within three seasons, if not sooner according to reports. Chelsea fans will be demanding it be earlier than three seasons though!
