Liverpool And Man Utd Have ‘Spoken’ To Real Madrid Star In The ‘Last Week’ As £50M Summer Battle Heats Up
Liverpool and Man Utd both believe they have a genuine chance of signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been left out of France’s squad for the World Cup, and that decision is expected to push him towards leaving the Bernabeu.
TEAMtalk claim that Camavinga was already considering his options, but he is now “actively seeking” a move away from Real.
It is believed that Liverpool and United have been “spoken” to in the “last week” about a potential transfer.
Real Madrid have set a low asking price
A fee of around £50m might be enough to secure Camavinga’s services. For a player who is still in his early 20s with 29 senior caps to his name, that is not a particularly high sum.
Some would argue that it could potentially be a bargain, considering what other midfielders could be sold for this summer.
Of course, Camavinga’s availability will also spark interest from other teams, with Chelsea and Tottenham said to be among his other potential suitors.
Liverpool are expected to reinforce their midfield
The Reds have struggled both with and without possession in the middle of the park this season. They have faced issues progressing the ball through the thirds, while their press has been easily bypassed.
There is a lack of mobility and energy, which Camavinga’s arrival would solve. His dynamism would add an extra dimension in that area and provide manager Arne Slot with a different option.
The France international wouldn’t necessarily provide an answer to the team’s problems in possession, and that suggests another midfielder (such as Adam Wharton) would need to be recruited as well.
Of course, those signings would necessitate current first-team players leaving. Curtis Jones is expected to depart, while Alexis Mac Allister (who has been linked with Real) could also be on the move.
