Journalist Names The 4 Candidates That Liverpool Would Consider To Replace Slot After Losing Out On Alonso

Liverpool have a shortlist of four names if they do decide to dispense with the services of Arne Slot, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
Speaking to TEAMtalkBailey said that there are three Germans in the mix, but Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola would be among the favourites due to his connections with sporting director Richard Hughes:
“Sebastian Hoeness is hugely respected because of the work he’s done at Stuttgart. Julian Nagelsmann remains admired, while Matthias Jaissle is another coach Liverpool have looked at – especially given the growing appreciation for his tactical approach. But one name that repeatedly comes up is Andoni Iraola.”
“He’s potentially available, he plays an aggressive high-intensity style that fits Liverpool’s football identity, and crucially, he already understands the Premier League.”
“And people shouldn’t underestimate the Richard Hughes connection either. Hughes was instrumental in bringing Iraola to Bournemouth, and there remains huge respect there.”
Slot is under huge pressure after Salah’s remarks
Mo Salah made a rare public statement following the 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday, which was a thinly-veiled attack on the manager.
Bailey claims there are those at Liverpool who “have a lot of sympathy towards” what was said by the Egyptian in terms of the Reds losing their identity.

Liverpool have already lost out on one fan favourite
The announcement that former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso will become Chelsea’s head coach this summer has angered many supporters.
Many felt that the Spaniard would have been the perfect man to replace Slot, but it must be said that prominent journalists, including the highly respected David Ornstein and Paul Joyce, have said that Alonso was never seen as a serious candidate.
The likes of Iraola, Nagelsmann, Hoeness and even Jaissle (who is currently working in Saudi Arabia) seem to be the top contenders for the position.
