Fabrizio Romano Shares Plans for Chelsea Manager Search

Fabrizio Romano shared some updates about Chelsea’s plans for a new manager. The journalist revealed that the club wishes to recruit a new manager before the World Cup begins. As per Chelsea NewsRomano said,

“The idea at Chelsea is to get the new manager as soon as possible before the World Cup, this is the plan. So in almost one month for sure, Chelsea want to have everything already signed, already announced, already completed.”

The FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada & Mexico. The quadrennial tournament commences on June 12. Before that, The Blues will be facing Manchester City in the FA Cup final. The finals will be held at Wembley Stadium on May 16.

Fabrizio Romano Shares Update On Chelsea Manager

Romano added the shortlisted names by the Stamford Bridge club for the team manager. Xabi Alonso and Andoni Iraola are leading the race for now. As per Chelsea NewsRomano said,

“Xabi Alonso is open to a new chapter in the Premier League. He would also be open to Chelsea. Chelsea are yet to decide who they want and are being careful in the process during internal talks. Discussions ongoing. They want the right man.”

The Blues had a tough season last year. They finished ninth in the Premier League Table. This is why previous manager Liam Rosenior was sacked last year. He was the second manager to be sacked within a year. Rosenior had replaced Enzo Maresca in January. Callum McFarlane is the interim manager for now. He is hopeful that Chelsea would win the FA Cup finals.

The club was also knocked out of the Champions League. The Blues lost to Paris Saint Germain in the Round of 16. The only solace for Chelsea was their Club World Cup victory. The Stamford Bridge club won their 2nd Club World Cup since 2021. They also avenged their Champions League loss. The Blues defeated Paris Saint Germain in the finals by 3-0.

The Blues Keen To Retain Joao Pedro?

Apart from the updates on the team manager, Romano also shared an update on striker Joao Pedro. The Blues insist on retaining the Brazilian forward. Pedro’s attacking football was one of the few bright spots for the team last season. He also played a crucial role in delivering the Club World Cup.

FC Barcelona is interested in the striker. However, The Blues won’t let him go. As per his YouTube channelRomano said,

“Joao Pedro is very important to Chelsea, they won’t want to sell him to FC Barcelona. Barcelona really like Joao Pedro, they consider him as a fantastic striker.”

Romano added,

“But Chelsea are absolutely considering Joao Pedro as a crucial part of the project. After a difficult season, to sell probably the only player who performed in a top, top way, like Pedro will be complicated.”

The club is hopeful of a better season by 2026-27. They’re focusing on the FA Cup. After that, The Blues will start afresh for the upcoming season. With Joao Pedro by their side, Chelsea have nothing to lose.
