Chelsea’s grip on European football for 2026-27 is loosening, while Spurs could all but secure survival with a derby victory.

Last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool halted a six-match Premier League losing run, yet Chelsea remain on the brink of an unwanted milestone: another defeat would be their fifth straight home league loss for the first time. They also have a strong record in season finales at Stamford Bridge, having not lost their final home league match since 2001-02.
Tottenham travel in better shape under De Zerbi, equalling their longest unbeaten stretch of the campaign by collecting eight points from their last four games (two wins, two draws). Their 1-1 draw with Leeds felt like a missed opportunity, but Newcastle’s win over West Ham on Sunday means Spurs will secure safety if they win this week, sitting two points above the Irons with a game in hand.
Their away form suggests they can do it. Only Arsenal and Manchester City have more away wins than Tottenham’s seven, and Spurs arrive off back-to-back road victories at Wolves and Aston Villa. Stamford Bridge, however, has been a difficult stop: Chelsea won this fixture 1-0 last season, and November’s 1-0 win in north London made it five straight league wins over Spurs, who have not won a top-flight match at Chelsea since 2018.
