Jamie Redknapp offers West Ham fresh hope with ‘absolutely diabolical’ Tottenham verdict

The Blues’ 2-1 victory means the relegation battle will be decided on the final day, with West Ham needing another favour.

Not only do they need to beat Leeds at home, but they also need David Moyes’ Everton to beat Tottenham away.

Even though it remains a tall order, Redknapp has not ruled out West Ham completing a great escape this weekend.

Jamie Redknapp tears into Tottenham as West Ham survival hopes boosted

Redknapp had nothing positive to say about Tottenham after they lost to Chelsea once again at Stamford Bridge.

The West London club were hardly at their best, but they did not need to be against a “horrendous” Spurs team.

Redknapp even claimed that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are “sleepwalking to relegation” ahead of a pivotal final day.

“I said it earlier in the season: they are sleepwalking to relegation,” he explained in the Sky Sports studio after the game.

“The only thing that has saved them is that they’ve had a couple of good results. When I say good, they beat Wolves and Aston Villa, who had seven players out.

“Now they have to find a way to win a game at home. Their home form has been so bad this season; it’s been horrendous all year.

“They’ve not had any quality, no character to win a football match. Now they have to find a way to beat Everton.

“David Moyes will be fuming after the weekend, and he’ll be going there thinking, ‘We’ve got to get something out of this game.’ I’d rather be playing Leeds at home than Everton.

Redknapp’s words echo the feelings of many Tottenham supporters, who feel destined to be relegated this season.

All they can do is take care of business at the London Stadium and hope that Moyes saves them in truly ironic circumstances.
