Behdad Egbahli spotted with former Chelsea manager
Chelsea got back to winning ways after seven losses in a row when facing top division opponents, as they defeated Leeds United 1-0 to book their place in the FA Cup final. Manchester City await them. Of course, it was a story of two halves. The Blues, under the interim watch of Calum McFarlane, looked the much better team in the first half. But they lost their way after the break, yet were able to hold on to their one-goal lead, gotten through an Enzo Fernandez header.
Considering how rare clean sheets were under Liam Rosenior, McFarlane should be more than happy with one. Now, the focus turns back to league games and that FA Cup final in the distance, which is the club’s only chance at silverware this season.
Most of the talk will continue to revolve around the next permanent Chelsea manager. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Francesco Farioli have already been ruled out. But quite a few intriguing ones remain in the mix.
One that not many expected to be back in the rumour mill is Thomas Tuchel. Yet, as he was pictured next to Behdad Egbahli, whispers about a potential return started to gain some momentum. Is there any truth to it?
Why was Thomas Tuchel pictured next to Behdad Egbahli?
Well, Tuchel’s presence at the FA Cup semi-final probably did not have anything to do with Chelsea. He is the England national team manager. So, you would expect him to be there in an official capacity.
As for a potential return, while you can never rule anything out in football, it feels quite unlikely. Especially after the manner in which his run at Chelsea ended.
Since then, the club have been on a completely downward trajectory. Sacking Tuchel might have been the worst decision of the BlueCo era, and just think of the territory that covers.
Chelsea fans would love to have Thomas Tuchel back
There is no doubt that Chelsea fans would love to have Tuchel back in charge. He was phenomenal for the Blues, winning three trophies, including the Champions League, and was unlucky not to win more as his team lost multiple finals at Wembley. He also got them a top-four finish both times.
Unfortunately, a return to Chelsea might not be on the cards anytime soon, if ever. Tuchel’s current deal with England is believed to run until EURO 2028.
Right now, his focus will be completely on the upcoming World Cup. Tuchel is elite when it comes to managing knockout cup competitions. Chelsea fans will know that well. And the Three Lions could be about to benefit from that.
