Edson Alvarez

• Position: Central Midfielder
• Club: Fenerbahce
• Games: 18
• Minutes: 1,126
• Goals: 0

Edson Alvarez was a mainstay in the Fenerbahce midfield before suffering a long-term ankle injury over the winter.

Alvarez only made one appearance after his return, as the Turkish club signed both N’Golo Kante and Matteo Guendouzi in his position.

Ryan Battrum

Ryan Battrum departed West Ham on loan days after their penalty shootout defeat to Boreham Wood in the National League Cup final.

Battrum started and played 90 minutes in all eight of Braintree Town’s National League fixtures after joining the club.

Kaelan Casey

• Club: Leyton Orient

Kaelan Casey was recalled from his loan at Championship side Swansea and joined League One team Leyton Orient in the January transfer window.

Casey was then dropped from Orient’s starting XI as the East London club battled to survive relegation to League Two.

Maxwel Cornet

From injuries to poor performances, Maxwel Cornet’s loan move to Genoa could not have gone much worse.

The Frenchman played only 112 minutes across eight appearances for the Serie A side, starting just once.

George Earthy

Having spent the 2024/25 campaign at Bristol City, George Earthy rejoined the club on loan halfway through this season.

Unfortunately, the attacking midfielder did not hit the ground running at Ashton Gate, starting just two of the Robins’ last 19 league games.

Michael Forbes

• Club: Northampton Town

Michael Forbes was enjoying a decent loan spell under ex-Hammer Kevin Nolan at Northampton Town until he was sacked in March.

Forbes was not in the matchday squad for any of Northampton’s last nine league games, as they finished bottom of League One.

Niclas Fullkrug

Niclas Fullkrug joined AC Milan on loan in the January transfer window after failing to deliver in his 18 months at the London Stadium.

The German striker also struggled in Milan, scoring only once in 20 Serie A appearances, albeit most of those came as a substitute.

Krisztian Hegyi

• Club: MTK Budapest

Young goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi joined MTK Budapest in his home country for the second half of the season.

Hegyi helped MTK stave off relegation from the Hungarian top division, despite conceding 23 goals in 14 league games.

Josh Landers

Josh Landers scored for the Hammers against Boreham Wood in the National League Cup final and then joined the Hertfordshire club on loan.

Landers was an impact sub in the final six league games and in all three play-off matches, losing the final to Rochdale on penalties.

Callum Marshall

Callum Marshall scored twice in 16 Bundesliga 2 appearances for VfL Bochum, including an equaliser against Kaiserslautern.

Marshall showed remarkable versatility, playing as a striker, attacking midfielder, left winger and right winger at various times.

Junior Robinson

Junior Robinson was recalled from Scottish club Livingston in January and also failed to make a significant impression at Boreham Wood.

The full-back was substituted after just 37 minutes in the Wood’s 2-2 draw against Woking in the National League.

Goalkeeper Mason Terry could not save Braintree Town from relegation, as they finished 23rd in the National League.

The goalkeeper kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 63 goals this season. He also scored a late equaliser in the National League Cup.

James Ward-Prowse

Nuno Espirito Santo froze out James Ward-Prowse soon after he replaced Graham Potter as Hammers boss in September.

Ward-Prowse featured regularly for Scott Parker’s Burnley after joining in the January window and provided an assist against Chelsea.
