David Moyes called out for ‘utter rubbish’ claim referees were biased towards West Ham vs Everton

Jason Cundy rubbishes David Moyes’ suggestion that referees favoured West Ham

In an interview with talkSPORT, Moyes suggested the referees were biased towards West Ham against Everton.

He indicated the Hammers would have been awarded a penalty if an Everton player had made the same mistake as Fernandes.

“I can imagine, if it had been the other way around here today and West Ham had been in that situation against us, I think they would find it very hard not to give that decision,” Moyes said.

While former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara sympathised with Moyes, Cundy could not have disagreed more.

The ex-Chelsea man argued the Scotsman was talking “utter rubbish” about bias towards West Ham.

Cundy responded: “Come on, Dave. It is a penalty, but I love the way managers really like to try to twist things to go, ‘Well, if it had been the other way round…’ No. They made a mistake. It happens.

“What I can’t accept is David Moyes trying to imply that had it been the other way round, the decision would have gone their way.

It was disappointing to see Moyes take such a controversial stance, especially after a game against his former club.

Premier League referees (even those with video assistance) make mistakes every weekend, and it has nothing to do with home advantage.

Therefore, it would not be overly surprising if the FA were to investigate Moyes’ comments about the referees’ penalty decision.
