Gary Neville issues new relegation verdict after Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Tottenham wins

Indeed, West Ham are now only three points behind Forest in the Premier League, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side having beaten Everton on Saturday.

Still, Neville still believes that it’s a straight shootout between West Ham and Spurs.

Neville thinks West Ham or Tottenham will get relegated

Wherever one stands on Neville, there’s little doubt that he’s one of the UK’s leading pundits, so naturally his words carry weight.

While the former Manchester United and England defender did not go as far as to predict exactly who will follow Wolves and Burnley out of the Premier League this season, Neville does not believe it will be Forest.

He said while speaking on Sky Sports: “I think Leeds are okay, I think Nottingham Forest probably need one more win, but I think they’re okay. I do think it’s West Ham or Spurs now.”

That does feel relatively harsh. While few would have picked Forest out as potential relegation candidates when they thrashed Sunderland, three points is not a huge advantage when West Ham are in such strong form themselves.

Forest still have to play Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester United and Bournemouth all while having the Europa League semi-finals against Aston Villa to contend with.

They are not clear by any means, despite their vastly improved performances of late.

It would be too much to say that West Ham are now looking up the table rather than down it after beating Everton but that prospect cannot be discounted entirely.

The battle continues on for another week at least and none of the three teams (assuming Leeds are now safe) can rest easy just yet.
