Viktor Gyokeres continued where he left of in the domestic season by netting in Sweden’s final warm-up game before the 2026 World Cup.

Our Swedish striker showed off his prowess from dead ball, curling home a free-kick in the second half against Greece in Stockholm.

Liverpool defedner Kostas Tsimikas had opened the scored for the visitors before Viktor’s equaliser. Gustaf Nilsson put the home side in front before a 95th minute equaliser from Giorgos Masouras.

MERINO SKIPPERS SPAIN

Over in A Coruña, Spain were bidding farewell to their home support with a 1-1 draw against fellow World Cup qualifiers, Iraq.

Ferran Torres opened the scoring after being set up by Dani Olmo before Merchas Doski caught Joan Garcia off guard to level the tie.

In the second half, Mikel Merino came on for Alex Baena in the 68th minute, taking the captain’s armband late on in the stalemate.

La Roja now head to Mexico for their final warm-up fixture, taking on Peru in Puebla.

O’NEILL MAKES DEBUT

Away from the World Cup warm-ups, there was a special moment for our Hale End star Licensed O’Neill as the winger made his debut for the Northern Ireland first team.

The 18-year-old, who has featured in first-team squads during the 2025/26 season, as well as impressing in Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League, was a second-half substitute in Northern Ireland’s narrow 1-0 win over Guinea.

Tom Atcheson netted the winner as O’Neill came on for Isaac Price in the 64th minute at the Estadio Municipal de la Linea de la Concepción in Cadiz, Spain.

O’Neill could be coming up against another one of our stars next week, as Northern Ireland head to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy to face France in Lille.
