Chelsea have been pushing hard to secure the departure of Axel Disasi from the club, and have essentially agreed a deal with West Ham to see him leave.

It has been the best part of two years since Disasi last played for Chelsea, and he has spent spells on loan at Aston Villa and West Ham in the meantime.

Disasi showed signs of major improvement at the London Stadium, however West Ham were relegated from the Premier League, with the damage being done before he joined on loan.

Chelsea have ‘basically agreed’ £25m deal for Axel Disasi to join West Ham

It was clear that the London club would love to keep Disasi in their ranks in the Championship, and Simon Phillips has reported that a deal has been ‘basically agreed’ between the two sides, although personal terms are still being discussed.

He said: “We can reveal that West Ham have continued to speak with Axel Disasi in an attempt to get him to stay at the club despite being relegated. Talks happening there with Chelsea’s blessing. Chelsea have basically agreed a fee for Disasi to join The Hammers, believed to be around £25m.

“West Ham are currently trying to convince the player, offering him a leadership role. Disasi has many other options this summer though, but at this point he has not turned West Ham down.”

It would be some drop off for Disasi, who will surely fancy himself to feature in Europe next season if he secured a move abroad.

Chelsea moving in a new direction under Xabi Alonso

One thing’s for sure though, and that is the Frenchman’s time at Chelsea is over, with the Blues looking in another direction ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Xabi Alonso wants new centre-backs, and the club have Maxence Lacroix at the top of their shortlist for potential signings.

The club are willing to part ways with a number of their current crop of defenders. Trevoh Chalobah has been strongly linked with a move to Italy this summer.

The Blues will not make back the money they spent on Disasi, but will be happy that another failed transfer looks set to leave their club at last.
