Chelsea Offer Benoit Badiashile To AC Milan For Summer Transfer
Benoit Badiashile has reportedly been offered to AC Milan, with Chelsea looking for between £18 million and £23 million.
Salvatore Ferrante reports that the French centre-back has emerged as an option for Milan as Chelsea continue to work through possible defensive sales.
Badiashile’s future has looked uncertain for weeks. Read Chelsea recently covered how Chelsea included Badiashile among the defenders offered to Crystal Palace during talks over Maxence Lacroix.
That already showed Chelsea were open to moving him on if the right deal arrived. Milan’s interest gives the situation another route, although there is no suggestion yet of a formal bid.
Chelsea Need Space In Defence
Chelsea have too many senior centre-backs and Xabi Alonso needs a clearer defensive group before pre-season settles.
Badiashile still has resale value, but his place in the squad looks vulnerable. Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi all form part of the wider centre-back picture.
A sale in the £23m to £29m range would help Chelsea trim the squad and recover a useful fee. It would also reduce the risk of another senior defender spending the season without a clear role.
Milan now have a decision to make. Chelsea’s price is clear, but interest needs to become an offer.
