Arsenal TV fixtures confirmed as Premier League move three games

Arsenal face Aston Villa, Chelsea, Sunderland and Brighton in the opening few weeks of the season with the Premier League confirming when those games will kick-off

The Premier League have confirmed that Arsenal will face Chelsea live on Sky Sports on Sunday, September 6 at 4:30pm with their second game of the 2026/27 season against Aston Villa also selected for live TV coverage.

The clash at Villa Park will take place on Monday, August 31 with the Gunners opening their Premier League title defence at home to newly-promoted Coventry City on Friday, August 21, in an 8pm kick-off.

Their game against Sunderland has also moved to an 8pm kick-off on Saturday, September 12. However, the following weeks’ fixture against Brighton will stay on the Saturday at 3pm.

The next round of TV picks are not expected to be announced until late August, with an extended international break arriving before the October dates and times are confirmed.

Mikel Arteta’s side face Leeds, Forest, Everton and Liverpool during that period, with standout games against Manchester City and Tottenham arriving later in the year.

The current priority for the champions, however, is transfers. Sporting director Andrea Berta is working on a number of deals simultaneously with Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola, Alex Scott and Bruno Guimaraes, just a few names of interest.

The sale of Jakub Kiwior has thus far been the only move sanctioned with the Polish defender joining Porto on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan there.

He is set to soon be joined by Leandro Trossard as a first-team sale, with the Belgian, who played a big role in his nation reaching the World Cup quarter-finals, set to join Besiktas.

Trossard is one of several Arsenal stars still over in the United States after Brazil’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Martinelli were knocked out by Norway.

Martin Odegaard helped mastermind that win, with Arsenal’s captain joined by Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze of England in the last-8. They will go head-to-head for a place in the semi-finals this Saturday.

William Saliba and Mikel Merino are also still in the tournament, with the latter set to go up against Merino after his decisive goal for Spain against Portugal.

Arteta will therefore be preparing to coach a smaller group when pre-season officially kicks off later this month with those at the World Cup requiring a minimum four-week rest.

Their first pre-season friendly is against Girona in early August, with Real Betis, Borussia Dortmund and Como also on the schedule before the Community Shield against Manchester City.
