PL Club ‘Close’ to Signing England Ace

Arsenal have been in the hunt to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers since before the summer transfer window began. Having won the Premier League title last season, this could transfer could take Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to the next level.

Last season, Rogers was amongst the most effective attacking players in the Premier League. His creativity and propensity to drive forward, both scoring and creating goals, could turn Arsenal into an unstoppable force in the 2026/27 campaign.

According to a recent report from FootballTransfers, Arsenal could soon agree ‘personal terms’ with the 23-year-old ahead of a possible move to the Emirates Stadium. He will not come, cheap, however – Villa have slapped a price tag of £130 million on him.

While Arsenal are not the only club in the race to snap Rogers up, they are understood to be leading the pack. The Athletic claimed that Chelsea have ‘given up’ in their pursuit of the players, as they are not willing to meet his enormous price tag.

As well as this, The Athletic also claimed that while Liverpool have been monitoring Rogers’ progress, they are not looking to stregthen their squad in attacking midfield this window. Furthermore, given their enormous spending last summer, they might not have much room to manouvre.

While Chelsea and Liverpool can be ruled out at this juncture, Manchester United might still pose a threat to Arsenal’s plans. Back in June, they were linked with a move for Rogers by Sky Sports, though no new developments have been reported since.

What would Morgan Rogers bring to Arsenal?

While Rogers’ World Cup stats have been modest, this isn’t his fault – he simply cannot break into the England team while Jude Bellingham is in such fine form.

He has looked handy when he has played for the Three Lions, but has yet to score a goal or notch up an assist at this stage – though there still may be plenty of time to go, especially if England can make it beyond Norway.

For Aston Villa in the Premier League last season, Rogers was utterly outstanding. Scoring ten goals and assisting seven more, he was their star player and one of the best players in the division as a whole.

He operates best in the half-spaces, just outside of the box. There, he can whip dangerous balls into his teammates or rattle off one of his trademark longshots.

While he generally operates as an attacking midfielder, just in behind the striker, he can also function very effectively as a left-winger, which allows him to cut inside on his right foot and create havoc.

Furthermore, Rogers is also an excellent, brave dribbler who likes to run at players and unsettle opposition backlines with his clever movement both on and off the ball.
