“From What I’m Aware” – Romano Issues Fresh Update On Man City’s Talks With Chelsea Over £120M Transfer

Man City “are not in active talks” with Chelsea over signing midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Argentinian international’s future will not be resolved until the player returns from the World Cup:

“The situation will be discussed after the World Cup. So during the World Cup, nothing will change for Enzo Fernandez. The agent of the player, Javier Pastore, will talk to Chelsea after the World Cup to try and understand which one could be the best solution for all parties.”

“Remember that this story started because Chelsea and Enzo were not able to reach an agreement on new contract since end of November, beginning of December, so the contract is still a problem between Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea.”

“Then, let me tell you once again: after the Real Madrid statement, I saw some stories of Manchester City. From what I’m aware, Manchester City are not in active talks to sign Enzo Fernandez at this stage.”

Man City do want a 2nd midfield addition

Despite splashing out £116m on Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, it is believed that the Cityzens are looking to reinforce their options in the middle of the park even further.

Romano has revealed that Enzo Maresca’s side have also been in discussions with the agent of Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi.

It suggests a move for the Moroccan international is more likely than one for Fernandez at the moment. The Chelsea star’s reported £120m asking price may have something to do with that.

Fernandez’s Chelsea teammate IS a target

While the midfielder is currently not an option for City, it is believed that another Chelsea player is on the Manchester club’s radar.

An approach for Malo Gusto has been seriously considered, but the Frenchman’s current £75m valuation is believed to be too high, so an offer may only be tabled if Chelsea are prepared to accept a lower figure.
