Chelsea star set for summer transfer after new contract and will miss Xabi Alonso training
The latest on the future of Jesse Derry, with the Chelsea youngster set to complete a move away from Stamford Bridge just days after committing his future to the west London club

Jesse Derry is set to sign for Sporting CP on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea after the academy star signed a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.
As reported on football.london earlier this week, the 19-year-old has extended his stay with the Blues amid interest from Bayern Munich, Juventus and other European sides. However, Chelsea were keen to tie Derry, who is rated highly internally, down to fresh terms and reward him for a really encouraging debut season with the west Londoners.
After signing from Crystal Palace less than 12 months ago, Derry made his senior debut for Chelsea in their FA Cup victory away at Hull City in February – coming off the bench in the second half – and also made a cameo appearance in the next round of the competition away at Wrexham. Derry was then given his full Blues debut in early-May, making his first Premier League start – and appearance – in the defeat to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

While Derry impressed last season, Chelsea chiefs believe the best pathway for his development this term will be away from the club on a temporary deal. Sporting is seen as the ideal location for Derry to develop for a season with the Portuguese club boasting a strong reputation when it comes to bringing up young footballers.
Chelsea have a good relationship with the Lisbon-based outfit after recently signing Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda from the Jose Alvalade Stadium. Speaking of Quenda, new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso is set to meet the Portuguese winger this week as he takes his first pre-season training session this summer.
Quenda has been at Chelsea’s training centre in Cobham over the past week to conduct some individual work before he meets his new colleagues for the first time.
