“We’ll see what happens” – Chelsea star refuses to commit future to Blues
Chelsea star Enzo Fernández says he’s not thinking about his future amid claims of interest from elsewhere.
On Friday, Sport Witness relayed news of Manchester City and Arsenal making contact for the midfielder.
Manchester City have appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager, and he joined them after leaving Chelsea in January. His presence may give the Etihad club an edge over the Gunners.
The Argentina international’s agent, Javier Pastore, has confirmed he wants to leave the Blues and is working on finding solutions.
Pastore also said Real Madrid are keen, while Los Blancos have confirmed they have no intention to pursue his signing.
Chelsea player happy with his goal
On Tuesday, Argentina came from 2-0 down to beat Egypt 3-2 in the World Cup. Enzo Fernández starred for La Albiceleste by scoring the late winner. The result also means the national team face Switzerland in the quarter final on Sunday (UK time).
After the match, DAZN caught up with the Chelsea midfielder, who expressed his joy over Argentina’s latest win and his role in it.
“I have an incredible mix of feelings. I’m so grateful and privileged to be living these moments,” he said.
“I knew Lautaro was going to take the lead, and I got into the box. He crossed it, and I went in hard. I’m so happy to win, to help my teammates, my team, and to advance to the next round.”
Chelsea star didn’t defuse transfer links
DAZN put it to Enzo Fernández that there are claims linking him to Real Madrid and other top clubs. The La Liga giants were named despite publicly ruling out a move.
Responding to that, Fernández explained: “I’m not thinking about my future right now. I’m here living this incredible moment for me, and we’ll see what happens after the World Cup.”
The 25-year-old has refused to close the door on a Chelsea exit, after his agent confirmed he wants to leave Xabi Alonso’s side.
If Argentina progress to the semi final, they will play one more match (third-place or final). In that case, the midfielder will be with the national team until the end of next week and then think about his Chelsea future.
