Persuade Chelsea to offer Enzo Fernandez the contract he wants

Money talks in football, and it is well known that Fernandez has at least had some talks with Chelsea over a new contract.

With no fresh deal signed, though, it is clear that the Blues have not offered the kind of money Fernandez and his agent Javier Pastore have been looking for.

However, at this stage, Chelsea should probably hand Fernandez what he wants. They are going to find it impossible to pick up a midfielder with the same profile as him in the market.

Sign more experienced players to transform Chelsea into title challengers

It may take more than just a big contract to keep Fernandez at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine will want to see improvement on the pitch and a team capable of winning the Premier League title one day.

To make that happen, Alonso is going to have to bring in more experienced players who know how to win games even when the team are not playing well. Without that, they will not challenge for the title and will even struggle to qualify for the Champions League.

Promise to build the team around Enzo Fernandez

Finally, while a lot of Chelsea supporters may not agree, Alonso may have to build his side around Fernandez to keep him happy.
