Michael Olise’s brother left jobless after Premier League club suddenly releases him

The brother of Bayern Munich and France star Michael Olise finds himself without a club after being shown the door by Chelsea. Richard Olise, 21, joined the Blues’ academy at Under-9 level.
The defender worked his way up through the youth ranks, even earning a place in Chelsea’s squad for their Conference League trip to Astana during the 2024/25 campaign. Michael also had a stint at Chelsea between 2009 and 2016 before departing for a brief spell at Manchester City.

Richard’s path has diverged dramatically from that of his brother, who has established himself as one of the finest players on the planet. Michael, 24, joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in 2024 and has been in scintillating form in the Bundesliga ever since.
His displays at this summer’s World Cup for France have been equally eye-catching. Olise has racked up five assists for Les Bleus as they prepare to face Morocco in the quarter-finals on Thursday, July 9.

With Richard now a free agent, his elder brother Michael has offered some valuable advice as the youngster looks to revive his footballing career. “We never talk about football to be honest,” Michael told German X account MiaSanMIia.
“We are both in it so much. We talk about life. When you have a setback, take it as a lesson. Use it as time to grow. Someone always has something worse than what you are experiencing. There is no time to complain. Digest what happened, then move on.”
Michael Olise’s impressive displays for Bayern and France have attracted interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs. The winger has racked up 42 goals and 54 assists in 107 appearances for the German giants.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen on luring the gifted wide man to Spain, with club president Florentino Perez claiming he was going to make a £130million move for one of Europe’s top players. Although Olise was widely speculated to be the intended target, Madrid moved swiftly to issue a statement firmly denying any approach for the player.
“In response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage. Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.”
Olise remains tied to Bayern until the summer of 2029, with the Bundesliga club reportedly eager to hand him fresh terms. Chief executive Max Eberl made the club’s position abundantly clear back in April, stating he had absolutely no intention of entertaining the possibility of Olise departing the Allianz Arena.
