Manchester United considering move for Aurelien Tchouameni’s FIFA World Cup teammate as he snubs potential switch: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Aurelien Tchouameni’s FIFA World Cup teammate Manu Kone. As reported by TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have shifted their attention towards the France international after being snubbed by his compatriot Tchouameni.
The report claims that Kone is eager to move to the Premier League, and AS Roma would be willing to sell for the right price. The 25-year-old would reportedly cost around £50 million, a figure that would present great value in the current market.
Thanks for the submission!
Manchester United reportedly wanted three midfielders to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer window. They already have agreements in place for two midfielders in the form of Ederson and Andrey Santos.
The two Brazilian midfielders will cost the Red Devils only £85 million in total, making their job of recruiting the third midfielder much easier. Manu Kone has therefore emerged as a solid option for a pretty affordable fee.
Kone is a well-rounded midfielder and is capable of playing either as a number six or a number eight. He joined AS Roma in 2024 initially on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach before making his move permanent a year later.
The Frenchman has made 82 appearances for the Serie A giants so far, scoring four goals and providing six assists. He has featured in three games for France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has also caught the eye.
Manchester United have been left frustrated in the transfer market, having been snubbed by several midfielders. They wanted the likes of Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali but failed to land any of them.
Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni also emerged as an option for the Red Devils. However, the FIFA World Cup star for France has also snubbed them and has gone on to sign a new deal with Los Blancos until 2031.
Manchester United agree deal to sign Chelsea star who missed out on FIFA World Cup spot – Reports
Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea for the signing of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos. As reported by David Ornstein, the Red Devils have agreed a £50 million deal with Chelsea for the 22-year-old’s signature.
Michael Carrick’s side have been working on midfield reinforcements following their Champions League qualification. With Casemiro left and Manuel Ugarte set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, they are believed to be looking for three midfielders.
They have also already agreed a £35 million deal with Atalanta for the signing of Ederson. Manchester United are believed to be keen on another midfielder this summer.
Andrey Santos joined Chelsea in 2023 and subsequently had loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg. He made 47 appearances for the Blues but failed to establish himself as a regular ahead of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. Capped six times for Brazil, he was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
