West Ham are reportedly in a four-team transfer battle for Wolves defender Santiago Bueno.

The Hammers will be looking to strengthen their defence this summer if they remain in the Premier League.

A permanent move for Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi would be an obvious solution, but they have several alternatives.

West Ham could sign Bueno from already-relegated Wolves if they can fend off interest from three rivals

West Ham target Wolves defender Santiago Bueno

Many West Ham supporters will recognise Bueno’s name, as he has played 90 minutes against them twice this season.

Wolves kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory in January, but the Hammers won 4-0 at the London Stadium three weeks ago.

While it has obviously been a difficult season for the Midlands club, Bueno has stood out as one of their better players.

That’s why West Ham, Leeds, Crystal Palace, and Brentford are all interested in signing him this summer.

According to Sport Witness, the four Premier League clubs have already “made contact” ahead of a potential transfer.

Bueno has no interest in playing in the Championship next season and will explore a move after the World Cup.

The Uruguayan’s price tag has not been revealed, but it will be cheaper than if Wolves had not been relegated.

Although Transfermarkt values him at £8.7 million, it would surely cost closer to £20 million to sign the Premier League-proven defender.
