Como and Inter are no longer rivals in the race for Trevoh Chalobah. Fresh Chelsea transfer news suggests the two Italian clubs have quietly struck a pact over the defender.
Suwarso Calls Marotta over Trevoh Chalobah pact
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Como president Mirwan Suwarso called Inter counterpart Giuseppe Marotta in the last few hours to discuss Chalobah. The two clubs have already clashed this summer over other transfer targets, including Nico Paz and winger Anan Khalaili.
Como sent a rival bid for Khalaili, worth close to €27 million, before Inter moved ahead in that race. Suwarso told Marotta that Como will not enter a bidding war for Chalobah. Instead, Como will only raise their interest again if Inter step back from the deal completely.
Trevoh Chalobah’s stats for Chelsea in the 2025-26 season, according to FOTMOB:
| Competitions | Matches | Tackles | Interceptions | Duels Won |
| Premier League | 34 | 35 | 35 | 134 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 1 | 1 | 5 |
| EFL Cup | 4 | 2 | 2 | 16 |
| UCL | 8 | 1 | 7 | 17 |
Inter hold the upper hand with Trevoh Chalobah
Inter look to be in the stronger spot, with Chalobah waiting on a move to Milan. The club have already reached an early agreement over personal terms, as reported by Goal. There is still no agreement with Chelsea, and the Premier League club wants a full offer on the table before those talks even start.
Chelsea’s financial position adds further context to their stance. The club posted a record pre-tax loss last year and need to raise funds for new coach Xabi Alonso’s rebuild. Chalobah is also a homegrown academy product, meaning any fee counts as pure profit under profit and sustainability rules. Inter may need to raise a firm bid soon if they want the deal to move quickly. Chelsea are also weighing a swap deal involving Chalobah and Crystal Palace target Maxence Lacroix.
Como sit in a very different spot right now. They have already made a formal offer of €25 million plus add-ons for Chalobah. Chelsea rejected that bid and want closer to €35 million for the 27-year-old. That €10 million gap explains why Como are not rushing back with a higher number. As reported by GOAL, Como would rather step back, let Inter make the first move, and react once Chelsea’s stance becomes clearer.

Why Davinson Sanchez is the backup plan
Como are not resting all their hope on one name. The club wants two new centre backs before the window shuts. Mamadou Sarr of Chelsea remains one option on their list. The stronger alternative is Davinson Sanchez of Galatasaray, whom Como have tracked closely for almost a year, as reported by Football Italia.
The Colombian defender missed a penalty as Colombia lost to Switzerland in the World Cup last sixteen, though he defended solidly for most of the match. Sanchez brings real experience playing in a back three, a system Como could adopt next season. He also signed a new deal with Galatasaray this year, tying him down until 2029, which could make any transfer harder to complete. His profile would become more valuable if Inter end up winning the race for Chalobah.
This transfer race now stretches across three football clubs and two leagues. Como and Inter are both shaping their plans around how Chelsea and Chalobah react. In the end, Chalobah’s own decision may settle where this transfer saga lands.
