Club set for double talks with Chelsea – Champions League plans driving transfer window

Roma could find themselves locked into double negotiations with Chelsea this summer as they eye up deals for Alejandro Garnacho and Diego Moreira.

Corriere dello Sport report on the situation today. The newspaper states that Roma have their eye on two Chelsea players as they look to build for the Champions League.

Moreira negotiations

Roma are keen to kickstart their summer and are planning to do so using both Champions League revenue and potential sales. The latter could see Matías Soulé depart, with his agent in England for talks with Fulham and Sunderland.

But director of football Tony D’Amico is also working on incomings. One name who has come back into the picture is Diego Moreira.

He currently plays for Strasbourg, and the Italian side have already made an enquiry, before the World Cup. Talks have now resumed, although the €40m asking price remains a significant hurdle.

D’Amico is now trying to bring the asking price down with both Strasbourg and Chelsea. While the French side own the 21-year-old, Chelsea own a buy-back clause for the player. So, Roma need to negotiate with both BlueCo clubs.

Garnacho talks

Negotiations will be slightly easier for Alejandro Garnacho. He is owned solely by Chelsea and reports in England have claimed the Blues want to move the Argentine winger on.

Corriere say he is at the top of Roma’s list, but Chelsea won’t open up to a loan deal and want a permanent exit.

D’Amico is currently negotiating with the player’s entourage and assessing the feasibility of that deal. Any permanent move would require a ‘significant investment.’

For both, it appears that negotiations are needed. And perhaps a major sale, say of someone like Matías Soulé, to bring in funds that can be spent on a deal. But Roma like both Chelsea players and are working on a potential double deal.
