‘Many more cards to play’ – Confidence over signing Chelsea player
Inter Milan believe that they have ‘many more cards to play’ in negotiations with Chelsea over Trevoh Chalobah.
Tuttomercatoweb report that the Italian club are unconcerned about Chelsea’s high demands for the 27-year-old.
Chelsea demands
They report that Inter’s priority is to strengthen their defence this summer following the departures of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij. Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is the frontrunner for them at this moment in time.
Sport Witness have reported on their developing interest in the defender for weeks. The latest, a week ago, explained that the England defender had given the green light to make the move to Italy this summer.
TMW say he is the preferred choice for Inter, but Chelsea are putting up a ‘stiff resistance’ to any deal. Their ‘resistance is high’ and that’s not changing quickly. The Blues are currently demanding Blues are currently demanding €35m to sanction any deal.
Como are also in the race, but the Nerazzurri are convinced that they have ‘many more cards’ to play in the negotiations. As a result of that, they continue to apply pressure to try and make the deal happen.
Will Chelsea move?
They have alternatives on their list, but Chalobah is the one they favour, and they’d prefer to get a deal for him over the line. The question is whether they will get close to Chelsea’s demands.
The Blues have no reason to panic at this moment in time. Trevoh Chalobah is tied to a deal until 2028 and that includes an option for a further year as well. That means they’re protected on that front.
And with Chalobah offering a pure profit as he’s homegrown, the more the better as they look to boost their finances following years of spending. Attention now turns to Inter and the cards they believe they still have to play.
