It is time for Chelsea supporters to stop acting as if Alejandro Garnacho is the worst footballer to have ever played for this club.

True, Garnacho was very underwhelming last season, especially for an attacker with so much talent and potential.

But he did have some good moments. In fact, one of Garnacho’s performances was one of the best individual displays seen at Stamford Bridge during the 2025/26 campaign.

Alejandro Garnacho showed his potential in Arsenal defeat

Because Chelsea lost the game and it was in the Carabao Cup, Garnacho’s performance against Arsenal in the first leg of the Blues’ semi-final tie has been forgotten.

That night, the winger scored two goals and showed what he is capable of when he does have some confidence.

As per Sofascore, Garnacho completed all three of the dribbles that he attempted. One reason why Chelsea fans have been so unhappy with the 22-year-old is because of his lack of directness.

Sorry, but there are WORSE players than Alejandro Garnacho at Chelsea who aren’t being pushed out of the club

A lot of the time, he shied away from one-v-one situations, turning back and passing the ball sideways, which really frustrated Blues supporters.

However, when Garnacho does run at his full-back, he is capable of beating them. Unfortunately, there was not enough of that last term, and that may have been down to him struggling for confidence.

It does not really matter now. Garnacho will be leaving west London this summer. Garnacho has not been in first-team training, suggesting that he is not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans.

In terms of replacements, Chelsea do not appear to be close to signing anyone. Morgan Rogers is a long-term target for Chelsea, but he is still at the World Cup and is attracting strong interest from Arsenal.

The likelihood is that Rogers will choose Arsenal, who are in a much better position than their London rivals.

What next for Garnacho, though? Well, everything is pointing towards a move to AS Roma, where he should receive a bit more appreciation.
