Journalist Names The THREE Ederson Alternatives Man Utd Could Pursue

Man Utd have a three-man shortlist of midfielders as they seek to find an alternative to Atalanta’s Ederson, according to AS reporter Eduardo Burgos.

At the time of writing, the Brazilian’s transfer has not been officially called off, but a problem with his medical has placed the deal in serious doubt.

Burgos claims that Roma’s Manu KoneBournemouth’s Alex Scott and Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi are the three players that the Red Devils could pursue with Ederson’s move on the brink of collapse.

All three deals are expected to be difficult to complete – both due to price and the competition for their signatures.

Kone looks to be the most attainable

Roma do need to offload players in order to comply with a settlement agreement they reached with UEFA over a previous breach of Financial Fair Play rules.

Before the World Cup, it was reported that Kone was on the market for €50m (£43m). That price is likely to go up following his performances for France at the World Cup, but he remains a realistic target for Michael Carrick’s team.

Scott and Bouaddi may be beyond Man Utd’s price range

Unlike Kone, these two midfielders are expected to cost closer to £100m, which is not a figure that United have come close to paying since INEOS took over the club’s football operations.

They lost out to Tottenham for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes after refusing to pay £85m up front. Bournemouth are likely to demand at least £80m for Scott, but there is also interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Bouaddi, like Kone, enhanced his reputation at the World Cup, and Lille are said to be demanding €100m (£85m) from suitors who want to sign him this summer. City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are all circling the teenager.
