Lampard targets two former Chelsea stars for Coventry reunion – Read Chelsea F.C.
Frank Lampard is exploring moves for former Chelsea players Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Coventry City prepare for their Premier League return.
Coventry have reportedly made contact over both AC Milan players to establish whether summer deals are financially possible.
The initial approach is understood to have focused on the conditions required rather than formal offers.
Italian reports claim Coventry are the only club to have made concrete contact for both players so far, with Milan open to departures this summer.
Lampard looks to trusted Chelsea experience
Lampard worked with Tomori and Loftus-Cheek during his time at Chelsea and knows the qualities both could bring to a promoted squad.
Tomori became a first-team regular under Lampard during the 2019/20 season before later joining Milan. Loftus-Cheek also came through Chelsea’s academy and made more than 150 senior appearances for the club.
ReadChelsea previously noted how Tomori and Loftus-Cheek form part of the strong Chelsea-to-Milan connection.
Loftus-Cheek may represent the more realistic target. His ability to play across midfield would give Coventry experience, physicality and tactical flexibility.
Tomori’s situation looks more complicated because the defender could wait for interest from clubs involved in European competition.
Both players have contracts running until 2027, which may encourage Milan to consider offers rather than risk their values falling further.
For Chelsea supporters, the proposed moves would reunite three familiar Cobham figures in the Premier League.
Coventry still need to decide whether the financial demands fit their recruitment model. Lampard’s interest, though, shows he wants proven top-level experience around the squad that won promotion.
