“There is interest in him from other clubs”

Newly-appointed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave the Blues this summer. The Argentina international only joined the west London giants last summer in a reported £40 million from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old struggled to break into Chelsea’s starting XI and failed to impress the fans. He scored eight goals and provided four assists in 43 appearances in all competitions but four of those goals came in four EFL Cup games.

The former Manchester United winger failed to convince both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior as well as interim manager Calum McFarlane. It has been claimed that the Blues are looking to offload the Argentine just one year after signing him.

Now, new manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that the former Atletico Madrid youngster has attracted interest from other clubs. He said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

“There is interest in him from other clubs. Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for everyone.”

Garnacho has been linked with a move to Serie A, with both Napoli and AS Roma reportedly keen on his services. Chelsea reportedly want around €50 million for the forward, slightly more than the €46.2 million they paid for his signature last summer.

Newly-appointed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso reportedly wants to reunite with Real Madrid left-back Alvaro Carreras at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard signed the bombarding full-back at the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.

The Blues are short of quality and depth at left-back, having parted ways with Marc Cucurella this summer. The Spain international has made a reported £51.8 million switch to Real Madrid this summer.

Xabi Alonso reportedly wants to raid his former club for Carreras, a player he rates highly. Carreras enjoyed a solid start to life at Real Madrid under Alonso but failed to impress in the second half of the season under Alvaro Arbeloa.

Chelsea reportedly have already seen a bid worth €25 million rejected for the former Manchester United academy graduate. They reportedly want €50 million, the fee they splashed for his services from Benfica last summer.

Carreras played 2151 minutes under Alonso last season and produced one goal and one assist. He only played 1251 minutes under Alonso’s successor Arbeloa, raking up one goal and two assists. The 23-year-old is reportedly seen as an important player by new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
