“Our squad is so mid”, “Make it make sense!”
Chelsea fans are furious with Calum McFarlane for picking Tosin Adarabioyo in the starting XI vs Leeds United. The Blues believe that the interim coach has made a mistake going into the FA Cup semifinal.
McFarlane has named Robert Sanchez in goal as expected, with Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella as the full-backs. Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin are the centre-backs today at Wembley Stadium.
Thanks for the submission!
Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia play in the pivot, with Enzo Fernandez in the attacking free role ahead of them. Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho are the wingers, with Joao Pedro leading the attack.
Chelsea fans are not happy with Tosin in the starting XI and posted on X:
McFarlane spoke to the media ahead of the semifinal, saying that it was not his role to comment on what went wrong under Liam Rosenior. He wants to focus his energy on the game and nothing else and said:
“It’s not my place to say what’s gone wrong or what’s gone right. My full focus is on Leeds. We’ve got a massive, massive game on Sunday. So all I’m thinking about is Leeds as a team, weaknesses, strengths, our strengths, our weaknesses and how we’re going to prepare for that game.”
“We haven’t had a clear-the-air meeting. We are getting the group focused for Sunday, spoken about the game plan and how we’re going to approach the game both in and out of possession. It’s really important that we have a real focus for the game on Sunday. You can’t be thinking about anything else. What’s gone on in the past doesn’t need to be spoken about. It’s just everything geared towards Sunday.”
McFgarlane took charge of two matches after Enzo Maresca left the club earlier this year, drawing to Manchester City and losing to Fulham.
Chelsea coach confident about squad at the club
Calum McFarlane believes that the Chelsea squad is still good enough and can do well in the remaining matches this season. He said that they are a talented bunch, with some being the best in their position.
“Making sure that the lads are prepared for the strengths of Leeds and making sure we’re ready to expose the weaknesses. There’s still a lot of belief in this group. I know it’s been tough recently, but we’ve had some good games this year, good performances against top sides in recent history.”
“There’s a lot of talent. Some of those players in there are some of the best players in the world for their position. There’s still a belief within us. We can turn this around and get our season back on track.”
Chelsea have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions.
