Enzo Fernandez’s goal against England could have serious ramifications for Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez can expect a very frosty reception the next time he sets foot in England.
It was Fernandez who equalised for Argentina in their 2-1 win against England in Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final, scoring a beautiful strike from outside the box.
The 25-year-old made a real impact during the game, as did Lautaro Martinez, who came on to score the winner.
Who is the best £100m midfielder in the Premier League?
Fernandez is hoping to leave Chelsea this summer, and England fans will probably be glad to see the back of him should he get his transfer.
The goal and the way he and his Argentina teammates played have probably made him public enemy No.1 right now. It gives Fernandez another reason to want to depart Stamford Bridge and the Premier League.
Real Madrid have ended their interest in Fernandez, doing so through an official statement. However, after his sublime strike against England and overall performances at the World Cup, it would not be a shock if they decided to revisit things.
Ultimately, Fernandez’s heroics at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium could end up having serious ramifications for Chelsea. Xabi Alonso wants to keep hold of Fernandez, and it looked like he was set to before Wednesday’s game.

Chelsea have slapped a £120m price tag on Fernandez, and so far, no one is willing to pay that.
He has just outshone Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson on the biggest stage, though. One hundred million pound midfielders.
With that in mind, Chelsea’s valuation of the Argentina international is a fair one, and perhaps Real Madrid or someone else will now be prepared to pay it.
The Blues should be looking to keep hold of Fernandez, and his goal against England is a reminder why. The former Benfica man is capable of delivering in the biggest games. Chelsea will not find a more clutch midfielder on the transfer market this summer.
