Per Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a £34 million deal with Club Brugge to sign Christos Tzolis.

On the back of a frankly obscene tally of 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 games last season, one-time Norwich City prospect Tzolis moves to the Emirates as a replacement for the Besiktas-bound Leandro Trossard.

This also ensures that, as West Ham United wait for offers to roll in, Arsenal will not be one of the club’s triggering the £50 million release clause in Summerville’s contract.

Hammers News revealed recently that Summerville can leave the London Stadium for £50 million, rather than the £40 million claimed in other publications. The former Leeds winger has made Manchester United his top priority.

Then again, so did Mateus Fernandes, and we all know how that turned out.

Man United must move Marcus Rashford out of Old Trafford before they can step up their interest in a potential successor. With Rashford on an eye-watering £300,000-a-week, however, this is easier said than done.

The feeling right now is that Rashford is likely to be reintegrated into Michael Carrick’s plans – albeit largely because of a lack of offers – thus leaving Summerville in the lurch somewhat.

Like Arsenal, Liverpool appear to have removed their hat from the ring. Liverpool signed a right-footed left-winger of their own in £35 million Spaniard Victor Munoz. Arsenal have now done the same with Tzolis.

Aston Villa are emerging as a realistic option for Summerville

Links with Tottenham have grown cold, PSG still have a Bradley Barcola situation to solve, while long-time admirers Roma are in the process of identifying alternatives.

Reports in Italy say that the Yellow and red have agreed personal terms with Strasbourg speedster Diego Moreira while offering a package worth £35 million for Chelsea’s dreadlocked-disaster Alejandro Garnacho.

Because of that £50 million release clause, West Ham are unlikely to accept the £38 million bid Roma are alledgely planning, per Gianluca di Marzio.

The answer to the Summerville saga may lie elsewhere in Di Marzio’s report; Aston Villa. Despite their well-publicised FFP issues, Villa reportedly have £100 million to spend, in addition to a lack of touchline-treading, chalk-booted widemen.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both moved for alternatives. Man United and PSG are stuck until they know what the future holds for Rashford and Barcola. Tottenham appear to have other priorities. That £50 million clause is probably too rich for Roman blood.
