Como Table €35m Bid to Sign Chelsea Defender: Reports
Como are making ever more desperate moves in their bid to steal Trevoh Chalobah away from Stamford Bridge, per reports from Italy. The ambitious Serie A outfit have been forced into putting a third offer on the table amid mounting urgency, which includes a fixed €30 million fee, plus a further €5 million in performance-related add-ons. The gulf between the two negotiating parties has been reduced considerably, and it is understood that a new summit between the clubs will take place shortly.
The re-introduced overture is a huge departure from Como’s previous attempts, which the Blues promptly rejected. The Italians had initially bid €25 million plus €2 million in add-ons. They then increased their bid to €28 million and added an identical bonus structure. Chelsea have been as determined as ever throughout, holding out for their valuation of €30 million plus €5 million in attainable incentives.
Chalobah is a homegrown product who joined the club as a youngster and came through the academy, but has been a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge in recent campaigns. The 27-year-old is playing for England at the 2026 World Cup, where the Three Lions will play France in a third-place playoff. Being an academy graduate, he only brings in profit, so any big sale would improve Chelsea’s Financial Fair Play position and make it easier for them to sign players in this window.
If completed, Chalobah will link up with former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas whose growing project at Como is attracting considerable interest. The versatile defender, comfortable in a traditional back four or a three-man backline, would add much-needed Premier League and Champions League experience to Fàbregas’ developing backline. Chelsea and Como are expected to have a final round of discussions to resolve the remaining complexities of the potential agreement.
