Chelsea shut down Barcelona plan with untouchable transfer call – Read Chelsea F.C.

Chelsea have made clear that João Pedro will not be sold after the striker was linked with a move to Barcelona as an alternative to Julián Álvarez.

Barcelona continue to prioritise Álvarez, but Atlético Madrid have shown no willingness to sanction the Argentina international’s departure.

Reports in Spain subsequently placed Pedro among the possible alternatives being considered by sporting director Deco.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea have no intention of discussing a transfer. The Blues view the Brazilian as a crucial part of Xabi Alonso’s plans, regardless of the size of any possible offer.

Deco has admired Pedro since his time at Brighton, but Chelsea’s position leaves little prospect of negotiations opening this summer.

Pedro established himself as one of Chelsea’s most important attackers during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old scored 20 goals across all competitions and provided Alonso with an option capable of playing as a central striker or behind another forward.

Read Chelsea previously reported that Barcelona’s interest was genuine, but the Blues had no plans to approve his departure.

Chelsea have added Emmanuel Emegha to an attacking group which also includes Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson. Pedro is still expected to occupy a central role as Alonso reshapes the squad.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted the club may pursue alternatives if an agreement for Álvarez remains impossible. Pedro’s versatility and previous links with Deco made him an obvious name to emerge.

Chelsea’s refusal to negotiate removes him as a realistic option. Barcelona must now convince Atlético to soften their position or direct their search elsewhere.
