Out of nowhere, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

Morgan Rogers has been a long-term target for Chelsea, dating back years as Joe Shields played a big role behind the scenes to try and get him to Stamford Bridge.

It seemed as if Arsenal were the frontrunners to sign Rogers, with the Gunners supposedly the club that the Aston Villa midfielder had his eyes set on.

However, it now seems as if Chelsea have managed to pull off a hijack, as David Ornstein has shared some breaking news.

‘Chelsea reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign Morgan Rogers. A bid of £117m has been accepted by Aston Villa.

‘A 6+1-year contract for Morgan and a medical Monday.

‘Arsenal interested but 23yo attacker wanted Chelsea; Xabi Alonso instrumental.’

Morgan Rogers is currently away with England at the World Cup, preparing to face France tonight in the third-place play-off, but as soon as that is over he’ll be on his way back to England.

We can already picture the grin on Cole Palmer’s face right now.
