Mheuka comes off the back of a sensational 2025/26 campaign with the development squad. The Birmingham-born youngster hit 18 goals and provided one assist in just 19 league appearances.

He already knows what it feels like to play for the senior side. Brighton originally spotted his raw talent when he was just nine years old. Chelsea then brought him to Cobham at 15 for an initial €1m. Chelsea are handling this situation exactly the right way. Sending Mheuka out on a straight loan without any option for the other club to buy keeps his path to the Stamford Bridge first team wide open. He is simply too good for academy football now. A tough season in the Championship will give him the physical traits he needs to cope with the pressure of top-flight football later.
