Chelsea’s Morgan Rogers deal could be a big boost for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville plans

The winger’s proposed move away from east London is quickly turning into something of a transfer saga.

Recent reports have suggested Roma are the most likely to win the race for his services, having already submitted an official bid.

Given the expiry date on Summerville’s reported release clause, we should reasonably expect a deal to be concluded in the next week.

West Ham, though, will no doubt be eager to drag this out beyond the deadline so they can potentially attract bids closer to the £50m they originally wanted for him.

Recent transfer activity elsewhere could boost West Ham’s chances of doing just that.

Aston Villa have regularly been linked with a move for Summerville this summer.

They claim Roma want a deal done quickly and have given Summerville and West Ham until Monday for a response to their latest offer, or they’ll move to other targets.

That hands the initiative back to the likes of Villa, whose interest remains firm.

And where Villa are concerned, they’re now in a very healthy financial position to push forward and get a deal for Summerville done.

If they move quickly, and if reports of Summerville’s release clause are accurate, they can easily activate the clause and give Summerville a route back to the Premier League, as well as Champions League football next season.

If not, they still have more than enough there to convince West Ham into selling beyond the reported release clause deadline.
