Chelsea transfer news: Alejandro Garnacho wants out of Stamford Bridge. A single, deeply frustrating season in southwest London has convinced the Argentine international that his future lies away from the Premier League. Serie A is his preferred destination.
Aston Villa asked the question. When Chelsea and Villa executives met to hammer out a deal for Morgan Rogers, Garnacho’s name naturally cropped up during exploratory talks. Unai Emery wants reinforcement out wide. Yet, the Midlands club quickly discovered that the winger has zero intention of staying in England. He wants a fresh start abroad.

Finances, however, complicate any swift exit. Garnacho takes home a cool £110,000 a week, and his current Chelsea contract runs all the way until June 2032. That is a massive commitment for any buying club to take on. Roma are the ones pushing hardest right now. The Italian giants have established direct lines of communication with the player’s camp. They are trying to find a breakthrough.
Chelsea want a straight sale. The Stamford Bridge hierarchy has no desire to sanction a standard loan, aiming instead to recoup a significant chunk of the heavy investment they made when snatching him from Manchester United. They want a clean break.
Banished from training after the debut season stalls
It never clicked for him in London. The numbers from his debut 2025/26 campaign make for grim reading. Garnacho managed a solitary goal and four assists across 24 league outings. Out of those appearances, he started just 14 times, racking up 1,268 minutes of football. He was a peripheral figure, hooked early or brought on late to chase lost causes.
Things have deteriorated rapidly over the summer. The hierarchy has now isolated the winger from first-team pre-season training, forcing him to work away from the main group. They want him gone. It is a ruthless move designed to accelerate a resolution before the window slams shut.

Paying a massive premium for a player who struggled for consistency is a tough sell for Roma, a club operating under strict financial constraints. Chelsea might hold out for a permanent fee, but the market realities suggest a compromise is the only way through. A loan structured with a mandatory purchase option satisfies the accountants. Someone will have to blink first.
