Alan Shearer Pinpoints The Position Chelsea “Still Need” To Strengthen Following The Signing Of Rogers

BBC pundit Alan Shearer insists Chelsea “still need a centre-forward” following the club record addition of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
The England international is set to complete a £117m move to Stamford Bridge this week, but asked for his thoughts on the transfer, Shearer replied:
“As soon as Elliot Anderson went for £116m, then that was going to be the price for the next big move. Rogers is a brilliant talent, but Chelsea still need a centre-forward.”

Shearer’s comments are a bit strange, considering that the Blues already have a top-drawer no.9 on their books.
Joao Pedro had an outstanding first season at Stamford Bridge, finding the back of the net 20 times in 50 appearances.
His form was so impressive that he has attracted the attention of Barcelona. The La Liga champions have earmarked him as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but Chelsea have made it clear in no uncertain terms that the Brazilian international is not for sale.

The club are expected to offload TWO centre-forwards
At the moment, manager Xabi Alonso has five strikers at this disposal. The Spaniard can call upon Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, Emmanuel Emegha and Marc Guiu, along with Pedro.
Guiu is expected to be sold or (at the very least) loaned out before the transfer window closes, and one of Delap, Jackson or Emegha is set to follow him out of the door.
Considering Emegha has only just arrived from Strasbourg and Alonso has welcomed Jackson back into the fold, the prime candidate to leave is Delap.
Unlike Pedro, the England Under-21 international struggled during his first 12 months, scoring just twice, and there is a chance he will be offloaded for the right price.
