Chelsea have remained busy during the summer transfer window.
The Blues are working on multiple deals simultaneously, including signing Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.
The club have also recently reached an agreement worth an eye-watering £117 million with Aston Villa to bring Morgan Rogers to Stamford Bridge.
BlueCo’s spending looks set to top £250 million again with this week likely to be one of the most important yet.
Maxence Lacroix closing in on Chelsea transfer
Following weeks of negotiations, Chelsea have reached a ‘crucial stage’ in their talks with Palace over a deal to sign Lacroix.
The France international has already agreed personal terms with the Blues and could soon seal a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Xabi Alonso’s men, who returned to training last week, will jet off on their pre-season tour on Friday.
If everything continues to go to plan, Lacroix could find himself linking up with his new teammates in Australia and Asia before preparing for the new Premier League season away to Fulham next month.
Morgan Rogers medical booked
Rogers is set to be unveiled as a new Chelsea player sometime this week after the Blues’ staggering £117 million agreement with Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old is on the brink of becoming the Premier League second-most expensive player, surpassing Elliot Anderson’s recent £116 million move to Manchester City.
Rogers has undergone his medical on Monday, and all being well, will be officually confirmed as Alonso’s second summer signing before the end of the week.
Pep Chavarria deal hanging by a thread
In addition to Lacroix and Rogers, another player Alonso wants is Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria.
The 28-year-old has been handpicked by the new Chelsea manager as the ideal long term replacement for the recently departed Marc Cucurella.
Talks with Rayo Vallecano have been far from straightforward, though. The Spanish side are adamant they’ll only let Chavarria leave if his £42.4 million release clause is met; a fee Chelsea have so far been reluctant to offer.
This week will prove decisive in determining whether or not Chavarria will become a Chelsea player or if Alonso will need to consider alternatives.
Second round of talks for Nicolas Jackson
Interestingly, during Villa’s talks with Chelsea for Rogers, the Villains enquired about the possibility of bringing Nicolas Jackson the other way.
Although Jackson was not included in the Rogers deal, Villa could soon revisit the prospect of signing the 26-year-old depending on how serious Unai Emery is about adding to his attacking options.
