It is a lot of money, but there is no reason why Rogers cannot justify the fee next season.

The Englishman is an attacker who can score goals and provide assists. In a market where midfielders are going for £100m, it is no surprise that Chelsea are having to pay a club-record fee for someone who is probably going to be more decisive in games than the likes of Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali.

If Rogers’ end product gets Chelsea back into the Champions League, the Blues will not care about how much they paid for him.

Rogers is still only 23. He could go on to justify his price tag later down the line if he needs some time to settle next season, for example.

Ultimately, Ibrahimovic and others should not be too quick to write him off.
