Chelsea now want another England star to join Morgan Rogers at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are set to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa and could then turn their attention to one of his England teammates.
Rogers will improve Chelsea’s attack, but the Blues also want to strengthen their defence before the transfer window closes.
Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix is Chelsea’s top centre-back target, but he is not the only name they are considering.
Chelsea add John Stones to shortlist
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have now added John Stones to their shortlist as they look to bring in more experience.
Stones is a free agent after leaving Manchester City at the end of his contract. In total, the England international made 295 appearances for the Citizens and won the Premier League title on six occasions.
He also managed to get his hands on the Champions League trophy back in 2023.
Who would you rather Chelsea sign, John Stones or Maxence Lacroix?
At 32 and after making all of those appearances for City, Stones obviously ticks the experience box for Chelsea.
While Stones and Lacroix could arrive, a few names could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The potential arrivals of Stones and Lacroix would undoubtedly spell the end for the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile.
Chalobah is a key target for Como and has also attracted interest from their Serie A rivals Inter Milan.
