At VF, we feel some sympathy for Garnacho here, because talent was never the question; opportunity was. The Argentine barely played at Chelsea, which makes judging him on one season genuinely unfair. Aston Villa are a decent landing spot if the football fits him, and at 21 he has more than enough time to rebuild his standing in the game. Chelsea’s asking price of £42.5 million feels about right given his age and potential, but Villa will want to scrutinise that obligation-to-buy clause carefully before putting pen to paper.
