Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is unclear with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all linked with moves for the winger

Manchester United reportedly have no desire to sell Marcus Rashford to a rival Premier League club in order to avoid potential embarrassment.

The Reds hierarchy want to avoid a potential humiliation should the England international score goals for a top-flight rival, according to The I.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with a transfer swoop for the England international this summer.

Rashford’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain after returning from a loan spell with La Liga giants Barcelona last season.

Hansi Flick’s side chose not to activate the £26m option-to-buy clause they’d agreed with United last summer.

Rashford has been in action with England at the World Cup and looks set to return to United’s first-team set-up after a short summer break.

The Three Lions forward is said to bear no ill feeling towards his boyhood club, despite being frozen out by former United boss Ruben Amorim.

It means Rashford, who is on a reported £325,000 per week, is in line to feature for Michael Carrick’s side next season and could be part of the United squad that takes on Leeds United in Dublin in pre-season.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are two of the European clubs to have registered an interest in the United academy graduate, but he’s reportedly turned down a move to Turkiye.

The forward’s wages are said to be a major stumbling point, with United keen to reduce their wage bill, while interested parties are unable to match his current pay packet.

Tottenham were reportedly preparing a £40m bid for Rashford last month, but United are reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have already splashed the cash in signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes from Newcastle United and West Ham respectively, as well as bringing in Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton.

Spurs have also been savvy, too, with the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers.
