The latest transfer news coming out of Stamford Bridge with Chelsea really intensifying their business over the last few days with new manager Xabi Alonso heavily involved

Chelsea are progressing in negotiations with Crystal Palace over a deal for Maxence Lacroix.

The Blues have been interested in signing the France international all summer-long but up until this point, talks with the Eagles have proved frustrating. Chelsea, though, according to sources, are optimistic a deal can be struck to bring Lacroix to Stamford Bridge.

Palace are said to be after a fee in the region of £60million for the 26-year-old, who is understood to be open to moving away from Selhurst Park this summer, but Chelsea are trying to find some sort of middle ground with their London rivals. Jacobo Ramon from Como also remains on the Blues’ list of central defender targets.

Chelsea could also sign another centre back before September’s transfer deadline, especially if there are some departures in that area. Trevoh Chalobah remains the subject of negotiations between Como and the Blues and is expected to depart this summer, while several other defenders face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge.

Axel Disasi has strong interest from elsewhere in the Premier League and overseas, with the Frenchman up for sale. Benoit Badiashile has also been transfer listed. Mamadou Sarr, meanwhile, is likely to move on loan before the end of the summer transfer window.

Former Manchester City defender John Stones has been offered to the Blues in recent days after the 32-year-old left Manchester City last month. Chelsea do hold an interest in Stones but he is one of a number of targets.

As reported extensively, Chelsea’s recruitment model has changed in this transfer window, with the west Londoners deviating from their youth-only strategy with the intention of bringing in more ready-made players as well as exciting young talent. The Blues failed with a bid for Granit Xhaka earlier this summer in the clearest official indication of that thus far.

Chelsea hold an interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott but the Cherries are insistent they will not sell the England international this summer. Bournemouth sources have not even placed a valuation on Scott, who they intend on keeping until next summer at the very least.

Chelsea confirmed the £117m signing of Morgan Rogers last night. The 23-year-old England international has become the club’s record signing – surpassing the Blues’ £115 deal to sign Moises Caicedo almost three years ago.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Nicolas Jackson, whose name was brought up in talks for Rogers. Chelsea are planning on giving Jackson an opportunity to prove himself to Xabi Alonso during pre-season but will be open to offers for the right price.

Alejandro Garnacho is also a target for Aston Villa, sources say, and the Villans are progressing in a deal to sign the Blues winger on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy. Garnacho is said to be open to the prospect of moving to Villa Park and working under Unai Emery.
