Heskey Urges Iraola And Liverpool To Make £80M Raid For Midfielder Who “Would Be A Massive Asset”
Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey thinks manager Andoni Iraola should raid Bournemouth for Alex Scott.
The Reds have been linked with several other Cherries stars, including Ryan and Marcus Tavernier, but when asked by 10bet which player Iraola should take from his former club, Heskey said:
“Alex Scott. When you look at the young midfielders moving around the market right now, he’s right up there with the best of them, and he probably wouldn’t command half the inflated price tag of others despite being just as talented.”
“The great thing for me is that Iraola has already proven he can get the absolute best out of him. Having a player like that make the step up with a manager who already trusts him inside out would be a massive asset.”
Scott DOES have an inflated price tag
Unfortunately, the midfielder won’t be available that cheaply this summer. There is a great deal of interest being shown in him from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, which has driven up his valuation.
Despite having less than two years left on his contract, Scott is still likely to cost in the region of £80m. His decision to reject a contract extension may help to lower his price somewhat, but the competition for his signature remains fierce.
Are Liverpool interested in signing any other midfielders?
Mainz’s Kaishu SanoRoma’s Manu Kone, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi have all been loosely linked with a switch to Anfield.
Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Merseysiders are looking for reinforcements in the middle of the park this summer, but a lot may still depend on outgoings.
If Curtis Jones or Alexis Mac Allister were to leave, it would free up room for a new midfield addition. For now, though, the focus is on strengthening the front line.
